| Event to Focus on Expansion of Trade in the NC Textile & Apparel Industry

International Market Solutions (IMS), in conjunction with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will hold a half-day conference related to the North Carolina textile and apparel industry and beyond and trade expansion opportunities.
The event will take place Wednesday, October 24 at the Sheraton Four Seasons Hotel in Greensboro, NC.
Attendees will hear from Senior Executives from North Carolina companies, State Government Officials, Academia, and others who have taken the international trade plunge and have not only survived, but have doing well by having taken this route.
Representatives from Hong Kong will offer information on increasing trade opportunities.
The event will begin with lunch and will take place free of charge, but seating will be limited. Therefore, organizers are asking those who plan to attend indicate their intention by October 15.
A panel discussion titled, "New Environment in the Quota Free World," will take place, with Jim Leonard, past Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Textiles and Apparel, moderating.
Issues covered during the segment will be IPR and risk management - Bill Harazin, Attorney/Adjunct Associate Professor; customs - Jerry Cook, Hanesbrands; new advances in the textile industry - Dean Godfrey, Dean of the College of Textiles, NC State University; North Carolina advantages - NC Secretary of Commerce, Jim Fain, along with colleague Glenn Jackman; and US government - David Spooner, Assistant Secretary of Commerce.
Dr. Jim Weeks, Dean of the Bryan School of Business at UNC-Greensboro, will moderate a second panel discussion, "Experiences in China and Hong Kong."
Participants will include Bill Dilanni, Director of Research and Development at Burlington Labs; Jeff Peck of ITG, formerly located in Hong Kong; Boyd Rogers, Vice President, VF Corporation; Knox Winget, Senior Vice President of Global Supply Chain Operations, American & Efird; and Rob Culp, chairman of Culp, Inc.
